Some of the most frequent new pool construction questions revolve around salt chlorination. Many of our clients have heard of them, but aren’t exactly sure what they are or how they work. As leading Tampa pool builders, we thought we would take the time to answer some of the most common questions.
Do you recommend we add a salt system to our new pool?
Yes. It will reduce maintenance costs and deliver better water quality. Your kids can swim with their eyes open, and it won’t harm your hair or clothing.
We’ve heard it called a “saltwater pool”, is this like swimming in the ocean?
No. The salinity of the water is less than that of your tears, leaving the salt almost undetectable.
How does it work?
The salt system produces balanced, pure chlorine from the salt you add to the pool.
How much does it cost?
Many Tampa pool builders charge anywhere from $850 -$1,250, depending on the make and model of the system.
Do we still add chlorine to the pool?
No, the salt system will create the chlorine from the salt that you add the to the pool approximately once a month.
Whether you are interested in adding the system during new pool construction, or as part of an equipment upgrade on a pool you currently own, installation is quick, and the systems are affordable. If you have sensitive skin, eyes, or just want a smooth enjoyable swimming experience, the salt system would be an excellent feature to have on your new swimming pool. At Olympus Pools, for all of our new swimming pool construction and renovation projects, we choose to use Hayward Products. Hayward equipment is the easiest of all brands for our clients to use, and the warranties are outstanding.
